Saturday 21 January the opening ceremony will take place in Trieste.
Only a few days to go until the EYOF2023, the European Youth Olympic Festival, whose 16th winter edition will take place in Friuli Venezia Giulia from 21 to 28 January. A multi-sport event for young people between 14 and 18 years of age, launched in 1990 on the initiative of the European Olympic Committees (EOC). The aim of the European Youth Games is to promote the values and ideals enshrined in the Olympic Charter by educating and motivating young people to take part in sport and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
About 2,400 people representing 47 European National Olympic Committees are expected in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The regional hospitality industry is ready to welcome delegations, guests and young athletes. Almost 80 accommodation establishments are involved in the various venues, with a total of 1186 occupied rooms and 10606 overnight stays. Then there are the 200 guests, including the presidents and executives of the 47 National Olympic Committees, who will spend an average of three nights in Trieste in 10 hotels in the city.
On Saturday 21 January, the opening ceremony of EYOF2023 will take place in the regional capital. The appointment is in Piazza Unità d’Italia, at 18.00.
EYOF2023, in addition to being a great opportunity for making contacts, will also be a prestigious promotional showcase for the entire region, generating economy and increasing tourist numbers. A cross-border event with eleven competition venues (including Austria’s Spittal and Slovenia’s Planica), 14 sporting events and 109 competitions in which 1,300 athletes will take part.
